The Mayo ladies will live to fight for another week in Division 1 of the Lidl Ladies National Football League following victory today over Kildare in Swinford.
It’s the first win of the season for Liam McHale’s side, and they won by just the single point.
Three first half goals gave Mayo a five point advantage – two from the returning Sinead Walsh and one from the penalty spot courtesy of Annie Gough.
Walsh hit 2-4 in total for Mayo today, while Kildare came back into the game in the second half to set up a grand stand finish.
Kildare had the chance to kick a score and relegate Mayo in the last attack but their effort hit the crossbar and deflected to safety.
For Mayo to survive, they will need to beat Waterford away from home next weekend and hope other results go their way.

Mayo 3-4 Kildare 0-12
