Three names are set to return to the Mayo Senior Football Panel for the 2026 season

The Irish Examiner is reporting that Rob Hennelly, Cillian O’Connor and James Carr have all returned to the Mayo senior football panel.

Goalkeeper Hennelly, who retired from inter-county football last December, currently plays club football with Raheny in Dublin.

Manager Andy Moran has persuaded the 34 year-old back into the county’s fold, as he has O’Connor, who like Hennelly is Dublin-based, and took the decision to sit out this past season.

33-year-old O’Connor, who is famously the championships all-time record scorer, did not reitre but was reportedly keen to take a break, having made his senior debut for the Green and Red at the age of 19.

Ardagh’s James Carr also opted out of the panel for this year, after some knee issues, but the 28-year-old is certainly part of Moran’s plans for 2026.

Paul Durcan, Donegal’s All-Ireland winning goalkeeper back in 2012, has joined Moran’s team as a goalkeeping coach. He  will be joining a management team that already features head coach Paddy Tally, and coach/selector Colm Boyle

Mayo’s competitive season starts off on the weekend of January 24/25th, when they play away to Galway in the National Football League Division 1.
