Sligo jockey Derek Fox was hospitalised yesterday after a fall during a race at Sedgefield.
The Emmett Place native is recovering from fractures to both his neck and back.
During the 3:10 race yesterday, Fox was in the lead aboard Lucinda Russell’s Ballydisco, and suffered a fall four fences from the finish.
The two-time winner of the Aintree Grand National was reportedly thrown into the air before the back of his head hit the turf.
In a post on social media, Lucinda Russell stated that his injuries ‘should heal without surgical intervention’.
