Roscommon’s Harry Connolly has died

Castlerea’s Harry Connolly, who won the All-Ireland Minor Football championship with Roscommon in 1951, has died.

Mr. Connolly, from Church Hill, played his club football with Castlerea St. Kevin’s, with whom he won a senior championship medal in 1967. He also played intercounty football with Galway and Laois.

He also earned himself a senior medal with the Untied Stars Club, an amalgamation of both Creggs and Oran. The highlight of Mr. Connolly’s Roscommon career came however in 1951, when he won the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship with his county.

He is reposing in Gaynor’s Funeral Home, the Square, Castlerea on Wednesday evening from 5pm until 7pm.

Funeral arriving at St. Patrick’s Church, Castlerea on Thursday for Requiem Mass at 11 am, after which Harry will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
