The Roscommon Herald has today confirmed that Ollie Lennon has stepped down as manager of the Roscommon senior ladies footballers.

His decision comes following their two point loss at the hands of Leitrim in the All Ireland Intermediate quarter final yesterday.

Lennon was appointed manager back in 2021, helping Roscommon to a Division 3 title that year and again receiving promotion to Division 2 this year.

Roscommon won the Connacht intermediate title last year yet failed to retain this year losing to Leitrim.

Last year, Lennon was controversially dismissed as manager but was reinstated some time later ahead of the 2024 campaign.

Roscommon LGFA issued the following statement on his departure:

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce Ollie Lennon decision to step down as Roscommon Ladies Intermediate Football Manager after three years in charge.

“During which he led Roscommon to win the Connacht Intermediate Football Championship title in 2023 and the All Ireland Division 3 league title in 2022.

“Roscommon LGFA wish to thank Ollie for his service, for the tireless work put in by him and his management team the last three years.

“His work as a manager and an ambassador for the game, went above and beyond.

“We wish Ollie and his management team the best of luck in all their future endeavours.

“Roscommon Chairperson Declan Walsh thanked Ollie and his management team and wished them the very best of luck going forward.

“The process of discussing the appointment of a new manager will begin.”
