New Mayo manager Andy Moran said he was ‘delighted to be associated with an awards night that celebrates the very best of Mayo football’ when he spoke at the launch of The Mayo Football Podcast Club Stars awards with EirGrid on Monday.

Moran was the special guest at the official launch of the popular awards night that will be held in Knockranny House Hotel in Westport on Saturday, December 13th.

The nominees for the Club Stars ‘Team of the Year’ have already been announced while Niall Heffernan of Ballina Stephenites will be presented with the ‘Manager of the Year’ award next month after leading the club to 3-in-a-row of Mayo SFC titles.

A number of other award winners will be revealed over the coming weeks — such as Personality of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award winner, and Outstanding Achievement Award winner.

The nominees for the Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Young Player of the Year awards will be also be announced in the lead-up to the big night.

A Ladies Football ‘Player of the Year’ award is also being presented this year for the very first time at the Club Stars.

The Club Stars awards — which are organised by the team behind The Mayo Football Podcast in association with main sponsors, EirGrid — sold out last year and a full house is expected to attend again on December 13th.

“We were absolutely blown away by the response to the Club Stars awards last year, and we’re confident that this year’s event will be even bigger and better,” said Mike Finnerty of The Mayo Football Podcast.

“It’s always a great night as we celebrate the players, coaches, grassroots volunteers and teams that make the GAA in Mayo great.

“We’re really looking forward to working with the main sponsors, EirGrid, again and all our category sponsors to put on the best show possible.”

This year’s Club Stars charity partner is the Mayo Mental Health Association.
