Davy Burke’s side couldn’t match Monaghan’s second half charges, despite being ahead at the break.
Three consecutive two pointers early in the second half, through Rory Beggan (2) and Micheal Bannigan put Monaghan five ahead.
Jack McCarron scored a vital goal on 62 minutes to put them firmly into the driving seat, after which Monaghan finished out the game.
It’s welcome silverware for former Mayo footballer Andy Moran, who is coach with Monaghan.
