2024 European boxing champion and Mayo native Shannon Sweeney has been named in the team for the 2026 European Elite Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The boxer, who fights with St. Anne’s in Westport, will compete in the event where 33 federations are eligible to participate.
The team has been in camp since last month, with the championships running from September 15th-26th.
Also named as part of the panel is Roscommon double Olympian and reigning world champion Aoife O’Rourke, who boxes with the Castlerea club and will contest the 75kg category.
Her sister Lisa, last year’s silver medalist, is also named and will box in the 80kg category.
