It finished honours even in the only Premier Division tie of the weekend in the Mayo Women’s Football League.
Castlebar Town and Conn Rangers couldn’t be separated at 1-1 each, with Saoirse Mahon nudging Town in front just after the half-hour mark and Natasha Garrett ensuring Conn went home with a share of the spoils 30 minutes later.
Killala and Kilmore both made it two wins from two games in their respective jousts in Division 1.
Annie Lynskey is in superb form this season, accounting for two of Kilmore’s goals in a 3-0 win over visitors Westport United. But it took them until nearly the end of the first half to breach the Westport defence, with Shannon Gibbons giving the Erris side a slender 1-0 break, which Lynskey added to five minutes after the restart.
Killala were to enjoy a 2-0 home win over Kiltimagh Knock United. KK competed very well with their physically strong hosts, who in Alva Munnelly have a sharp shooter, and she took a chance that opened up for her well on 30 minutes.
A Ciara Murphy goal five minutes from time secured the points.
Crossmolina were 7-1 winners over Fahy Rovers in Division 2. They took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break, but pushed on for a comfortable win in the second, with Fahy’s consolation goal coming from Tina Conway.
Scorers for Crossmolina were Mia Fritz, Dara Moore (two each), Rachel Bourke, Sarah Gough and Alaoise Mulligan.
Elsewhere in Division 2, Achill Rovers made a trip up the road to Glenhest where the deadlock couldn’t be broken. Final score: 0-0.
