The Mayo Schoolboys/girls and Youths AFL had its under 15 Girls squad in
action on Saturday having a home match in Westport. At stake was a place in
the final of the SFAI Inter-League Cup with Kilkenny providing the
opposition.
In a very impressive first half performance, Mayo went 2-0 up through a
fantastic long-range free-kick from Grace Mulroy and a real poacher’s
finish from Leja Kosmakova. Leja added another early in the 2nd half with
Kilkenny grabbing a consolation goal with ten minutes remaining. The 3-1
victory by the Melissa Devaney/Amy Dunleavy managed squad sees them match
their compatriots the Mayo under 16s in reaching a Cup Final.
Mayo now face South Belfast in the Cup Final on the weekend of May
17th/18th.
