Mayo v Sligo - Connacht GAA Football Senior Championship Quarter-Final

Mayo have survived a Sligo scare in Castlebar, coming away three point winners in the Connacht quarter final.

Kevin McStay’s side advance to the provincial semi final where they will face Leitrim.

Mayo hit the net first in the game through Ryan O’Donoghue, with his finish the difference betweent the teams at the break.

At half time, Mayo were 1-8 0-8 ahead.

Luke Towey hit the net for Sligo in the second period to keep the Yeats men in contention, before Aidan O’Shea hit the net to restore the Mayo advantage.

Cian Lally strolled through for Sligo’s second goal with ten minutes to go before Niall Murphy and Alan McLoughlin hit two pointers to bring it back to three.

Alas, for Sligo, it was too little, too late, and Mayo advance with a three point win.
