Following a spell out of action Mayo AC master athlete David Dinsmore resumed competing on Sunday (March 30) in another of those trail races he’s been taking part in over recent years – mainly in France.
The event was the Trail du Mont Hèléne near Caizas – a commune in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France.
The 14k course has a positive elevation of 600 metres.
According to the organisers, it is
“an exceptional race, combining physical effort and wonder at the beauty of the landscapes. This trail, nestled in a preserved natural environment, will offer you a stimulating sporting challenge and a total immersion in nature.”
David says he’s “finally getting back to some sort of shape. It was a tough course! One of the toughest I’ve ever done. Very challenging with difficult technical sections.”
David finished in 85th place out of 190 competitors in 1:47.25 and first in the M7category (o65) despite falling and cutting his head!
Well done David, congratulations on the category award and best wishes for a “speedy” recovery.
The Trail du Mont Hèléne winner was Thierry Mignot (Running 66) in 1:06.15.
