Mayo have defeated Monaghan by a single point in round one of the All-Ireland Senior football Championship this afternoon.
Andy Moran’s side had led by 12 points early in the second half but had to withstand a huge comeback by the home side.
Kobe McDonald got Mayo’s only goal in a first half that saw the green and red kick six two pointers.
Breaffy goalkeeper Jack Livingstone was the Midwest Radio sport Man of the match.
Mayo now go into round 2A of the championship and will have two opportunities of getting to an All-Ireland quarter-final.
