The first ever competitive men’s game for Mayo FC ended in victory over St. Francis FC yesterday evening in Umbro Park, Milbush by a goal to nil.
Anthony O’Neill’s team took the lead on the half hour mark through Ben Edeh, after being played through by Gary Armstrong.
Mayo dominated the second half and could have extended their lead on a number of occasions, including a penalty from Aidan Coyle which rattled the crossbar.
In the end it was just a one goal margin of victory, Mayo travel to take on a Letterkenny FC side next week that lost their opening game yesterday 4-1 to Salthill Devon.
