Liam McHale has stepped down as manager of the Mayo ladies senior football team.
The Ballina native made the announcement after his sides relegation play-off win over Leitrim this afternoon.
It was a difficult season for the Mayo ladies who finished bottom of the National Football League.
Mayo LGFA expressed their sincere thanks to Liam McHale and his management team. “We extend our sincere thanks to Liam for his service to Mayo LGFA over the past two years, his lifetime of service to the county and we wish him and his management team every success in their future endeavours.”
Sinead Stagg, Mayo LGFA Chairperson was equally complimentary. “The commitment required at senior inter-county level is immense – not just from managers, coaches and the extended managerial team, but from their families too.
“We are grateful to Liam and his entire backroom team for their dedication to Mayo Ladies Football. Their work was instrumental in achieving our primary objective of maintaining senior championship status.
“Any year in the top flight of LGFA is challenging. This has been a season of huge transition for Mayo Ladies Football,” Stagg stated before congratulating those who had worn the Green and Red in 2025.
“We faced unprecedented squad changes with significant layer departures. We have seen great young talent emerging and we are immensely proud of the young players who stepped up, made their debuts and showed tremendous character throughout the campaign.”
