Leitrim v Mayo - Connacht GAA Football Senior Championship Semi-Final

Leitrim made Mayo fight for their Connacht final place today.

After a hard battle in Carrick on Shannon, Mayo have earned their place in the Connacht Senior Football Championship final.

Leitrim, who lost all of their Division 3 league games, were just one down at half time, and put up a serious battle against the strong favourites this afternoon.

Belmullet’s Ryan O’Donoghue hit 0-9 for Mayo, while Paul Towey helped in extending Mayo’s lead late on with 0-2 from the bench.

Leitrim midfielder Barry McNulty notched over 0-8 to keep his side in touch throughout, in a very impressive display.

While it’s not the victory that Leitrim sought, this performance will give them great confidence heading into the Tailteann Cup.

Man of the Match for today’s game was selected by Martin Carney to be Ryan O’Donoghue.

Full time score from Avant Money Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada:

Mayo 0-20 Leitrim 0-13
