Ireland under-21 boss Jim Crawford says they’re still waiting for Owen Elding’s international switch to be completed.
The Sligo Rovers forward won’t be available for the upcoming Euros qualifiers against Andorra and England.
Crawford says the teenager is a “exceptional talent”, who is “extremely keen” to join the squad.
He’s not the only Sligonian in the news this week, as Johnny Kenny has been left out of the Republic of Ireland senior squad.
It was assumed that the Celtic striker would be in to replace Evan Ferguson, who is out injured, but Heimer Halgrimsson has left Kenny out.
Kenny has scored three goals for Celtic since Martin O’Neill took over as manager.
