Galway supporters came out in their thousands in Tuam yesterday evening to welcome home the county’s All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football champions following their victory over Kerry at Croke Park on Sunday.
The Brendan Martin Cup returned to Galway for the first time in 22 years after Galway overcame Kerry by a single point.
Maroon and white filled St Jarlath’s Park as the team took to the stage to a huge reception from supporters celebrating the victory.
Captain Kate Geraghty led her team home after lifting the Brendan Martin Cup in Croke Park, while match-winner Eva Noone received a huge ovation after scoring the decisive late point that sealed Galway’s second All-Ireland title.
Leanne Coen was also among the stars of the celebrations after producing a player-of-the-match display.
The victorious Galway side visited CHI Crumlin Hospital with the Brendan Martin Cup yesterday morning.
