Galway have taken two big points from their Division 1 meeting with Tyrone in Omagh this afternoon.

Despite losing Matthew Tierney to injury, and no Shane Walsh or Damien Comer, the Tribesmen held on for a one point lead.

Tyrone were two up at half time after a very impressive opening period from goalkeeper Niall Morgan who got two points.

Cathal Sweeney’s 49th minute goal proved to be vital at the final whistle, with Robbie Finnerty hitting 0-4 throughout also.

A vital victory for Galway, and their first of this year’s league campaign.

Full time score from O’Neill’s Healy Park:

Galway 1-10 Tyrone 0-12
