The Irish Examiner is reporting today that Johnny Heaney and Tomo Culhane have opted out of the Galway football panel for the coming season.
It’s understood both players have decided not to play this year – but have not retired from the inter-county game.
Heaney, who has been part of the panel since 2015 and has six Connacht championship medals, has opted out for the coming season.
Culhane has opted out after suffering repeated injuries to both hamstrings. The 24-year-old continued to deal with hamstring trouble during the recent club campaign up until October of last year, when he played in the county SFC.
Galway are set to face Leitrim in Round 2 of the FBD League this Saturday in Tuam stadium, while they begin their Allianz Football League campaign against Mayo at the end of this month.
