The Connemara International Marathon is taking place this weekend.
There is approximately 3,000 participants taking part across three races.
Sunday’s event begins at 9am with the Ultra race which will be followed at 11am by both the Full & Half marathons.
All races finish at Peacock’s Hotel, Maam Cross. The winner of the first race – Men’s Half – is expected just after 12.15 pm.
The road from Leenane to Maam Cross will be closed from 10.30 am until 5pm.
Peadar Nugent – an 82-year-old runner from Athenry AC will be doing the half-marathon, followed by a camera crew from TG4. Peadar is no stranger to Connemara, but his main achievement is that he has completed all 45 Dublin Marathons.
