Callinan named player of the week

Sam Callinan has been voted GAA.ie Footballer of the Week.

The Mayo star received 3,627 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Galway’s Oisín MacDonnacha (2,852) and Dublin’s Seán Bugler (1,472).

It has been a really encouraging start to 2026 for Mayo. Sunday’s win over Armagh was the latest success with Callinan an influential figure, thundering forward to score two nice points.
