On Saturday (April 5) Mayo AC Ballindine-based member Adrian McNamara competed in the Trasna na mBlianta (Across the Years) Ultra competition which was hosted by Le Chéile AC on their track at Leixlip.
Trasna na mBlianta races included 6,12, and 24 hr events starting at 12 noon.
Adrian competed in the 24hr event, completing 293 laps in 11hrs 30 minutes 21 seconds, a distance of 117.2km, finishing 6th overall and first o40.
24 hr winner was Jessie O’Connor Slaney Olympic AC completing 577 laps, in 230.8km in 23hrs :59.41.
Second overall was Eddie Gallen Finn Valley AC M60 – an Irish International and one of Ireland’s best known ultra runners for over 30 years. He ran for 23hrs 58mins completing 529 laps – 211.6km.
First woman was Colette O’Hagen North East Runners 4th overall, 315 laps, 126km 23hrs 57.21
