A palpable gloom descended upon the Currane, Doughbeg, and Tiernaur parishes, settling on the community with the news of William’s passing. Known affectionately as “Willie” to his close companions, Anthony James Grealis and Martin McLoughlin. The three were inseparable, a trio as close as “peas in a pod.” They shared a bond forged through years of camaraderie, looking out for one another on their weekly bus journeys to Castlebar, bowling in Castlebar and numerous events over the years.
Two weeks ago, when Anthony stayed with us, he spoke of visiting Willie Nolan at Cuan Chaitríona Nursing Home, recalling the joy of reconnecting with his lifelong friend.
Memories of their youthful exuberance at the Tiernaur discos surfaced, their laughter echoing in the shared experiences of late-night stays at the McLoughlin home in Tiernaur. They laughed and talked together into the late hours and enjoyed the craic.
May William find eternal peace now with his Mother and Father. R.I.P. Willie
