Valerie and I travelled together daily from Achill to Castlebar when I moved from Dubin to start work in Davitt House in the early eighties. It was the start of a friendship which has endured the test of time. Each journey was an adventure and I arrived at work full of the joys life after being in Valerie’s company for an hour or so. I was already looking forward to the journey home. I have wonderful memories of those times. Valerie had a hearty laugh, a great zest for life and always displayed a great concern for others
