I have many great memories of Sunday visits to Killawalla over the years always so warmly welcomed by Mary Jo and Tom. A great house to go into and never one you could leave without a cup of tea and something nice. Our visits were always so enjoyable whether it was feeding the baby lambs, dancing in the kitchen, taking part in Christmas quizzes or simply just chatting and laughing. He loved the chats and a good sing song.

Tom was a great community man and had a great interest in technology. He regularly had the video camera with him and he captured many of our singing and dancing performances over the years. Thanks to Tom we have captured many lovely memories on video of communions, confirmations, Spice Girls dance performances and my grandparents 40th wedding anniversary celebration.

One summer we were on our holidays in Killawalla in the 90’s and we decided to set up our own air freshener business. Let’s just say we raided the shed and the house to help us get our new business venture off the ground. We made off with sheep dye, pine cones, Tom’s good aftershave and Mary Jo’s good perfume and thought they would be perfect for the job! Tom got a great kick out of this story and enjoyed retelling it for many years after.

Tom battled his illnesses so bravely up to the end with his devoted family by his side. He was determined to spend one last Christmas morning on this earth with his family. Our trips to Killawalla won’t be the same without you Tom but we will remember you fondly every time we visit.
