Brooklyn, New York and formerly of Keelwest, Dooagh – who passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, 1st August in the care of his devoted wife Peggy.
Predeceased by his father Michael and mother Cissie (Bridget), sister Bridgie and brother Patrick.
Tom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Peggy, devoted son John, daughter in law Aileen, grandchildren Kevin, Eve and John, his brother Michael John English (Bunacurry) and sister Mary Toolis (Keel), brother-in-law Greg, sisters-in-law Kathleen and Bridgie Ann, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, relatives and his many friends.
Tom’s kindness and strength touched the lives of all who knew him not only in his home of Achill but also by many Achill people visiting New York where he was always willing to act as tour guide as Captain of the Circle Line and Statue of Liberty Ferries.
He will be remembered with great affection, and his memory will be treasured forever by his family and friends.
Viewing on Wednesday, 5th August at PM McLaughlin and Sons 9620 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11209 from 2 o’clock until 5 o’clock and from 7 o’clock until 9 o’clock.
Funeral Mass on Thursday morning, 6th August at 10.15 in Our Lady of Angels, 7320 Fourth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11209.
Reposing at Sweeney’s Funeral Home (f28 hn81), Achill Sound, Co. Mayo on Sunday from 5.00pm with removal at 6.30pm to St. Patrick’s Church, Pollagh arriving at 7.00pm.
Mass on Monday at 11.00am followed by burial in Slievemore cemetery.
