Annaghdown, Co. Galway (1952 -2025)
Native of Chapel Street, Louisburgh, Co. Mayo (October 14th, 2025) – peacefully at home, following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family and friends, aged 73 years and in his 48th year of his ministry to the priesthood.
Son of the late George and Eileen (née Flannery) .
Predeceased by his brother Padraic and infant sister Mary.
Sadly missed and remembered with love by his bother Liam (Westport) and his wife Breda, nephews John, Oliver and Liam-Óg, niece Aoife, grand-nephews Oscar, Sean & Christopher, grand-niece Alice, cousins, + Archbishop Francis Duffy, +Archbishop Emeritus Michael Neary, brother priests of the Archdiocese of Tuam, religious sisters of the Western Province, laity, parishioners, wide circle of friends, a special thanks to his carers and close friends in Annaghdown who looked after him with such kindness and loyalty during his illness, Martin-Joe, Nora, Michael, Mary, Mairtin, John, Myles, Siobhan & Bridget.
Requiescat in Pace
Fr. Oliver will repose in St. Brendan’s Church, Annaghdown on Wednesday, October 15th from 3pm, concluding with Vigil Prayers at 7pm.
Fr. Oliver will rest in repose at Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Louisburgh on Thursday evening from 5pm, concluding with Vigil Prayers at 7pm, followed by removal, walking to St. Patrick’s Church Louisburgh.
Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 12 noon, followed by interment in Kilgeever Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations if desired to The Galway Hospice @ www.galwayhospice.ie which gave excellent care to Fr. Oliver.
