Paddy was the leader of our group for many years. He inspired us all and we shall continue to work hard from his example to make the Town a better place.

Joe Clarke, that other Knockmore footballing legend from Carrentrilla, summed it perfectly when he said Paddy O Hora also known as Tractor, was a tractor with five forwards and no reverse.

That was Paddy, give him a job to do, and forward he went, no going back, and the job was always completed..
We all know about his passion and commitment to his beloved Knockmore GAA club where he is the current President, former player and former Chairman, but his vision and forward thinking, which led to the purchase of the extra land, which is now so beneficial to our club.

To paraphrase some poet, No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away,. Until their name is spoken aloud for the last time”
Paddy’s name will be spoken for generations to come, not just through his incredible work with Knockmore GAA club ,or all the volunteer work that he done with Ballina Community, but through his simply just warm-hearted wonderful self, whether it was just meeting him in the town and stopping for a chat whenever one would see him, a chat that always leave you with the feeling, that all was well in the world.

Men like Paddy don’t come around very often and he will be sorely missed by many, but what a loss he is to his partner and family brothers and sisters and his big circle of friends.
My sincere condolences to you all
The hand of cards dealt to Paddy those last few years didn’t fall favourably, and he had to deal with some hard knocks,.
Now he is joining them all in his new home in the clouds.

Paddy meant so much to us. Through his volunteering, he led the transformation of our outdoor spaces, bringing a real glow to Ballina District. His enthusiasm and “can-do” attitude inspired everyone around him and made a lasting difference.
His work wasn’t just about how the place looked—it changed how it felt. Patients and staff alike benefited from the care he put into every detail. Because of Paddy, we felt truly supported and connected to the community we serve.
He will be greatly missed, and we are very grateful for all he gave to us.

Whether it was Ballina , Knockmore or the towns around it, you cared deeply and got stuck in wherever you could help. That says everything about you.
I’ll always remember the chats, the laughs, and of course the odd whisky together, simple moments that meant more than you’d think. You had a way about you, full of wisdom and warmth, and I’m better for having known you.
