I have such fond memories of Noels time as a Senior Engineer with Mayo County Council in Ballina. He was an excellent public servant, of great ability, and in particular, a really good sense of humour. He truly left his mark around the Ballina area, and in Killala, and this work will be remembered for a long time. May God grant him his eternal reward.

I interacted with Noel in Mayo County Council for over 30 years. He always brought out the best in people by his engaging personality, sense of humour and sharp wit. He leaves behind a rich legacy in infrastructure provision all over Co Mayo and particularly in Ballina where he spearheaded several road projects including Sli Ectra and the Salmon Weir Bridge. All those projects are testament to his work ethic and engineering skills.
Farewell to a colleague , friend and entertaining social partner . You will be sorely missed by all your wide circle of former colleagues and
friends.

I wish to offer my sincere sympathy on the passing of Noel, to Mary and their children, grandchildren, Breege Griffin(Burke), Mary Mongan(Burke) and her husband Michael Mongan, and to all his extended family. I was a member of Noel’s team on a number of projects including the rejuvenation of Foxford Town Centre and the development of the Admiral Brown Promenade. He was an excellent engineer with a wonderful mind and he always found simple solutions to the most complex issues. I have lovely memories in the 1980’s when Noel directed our first council cabaret group along with Tony Reidy, Tony Mc Nulty, Michael Duffy (RIP), Mairead Forkan(RIP), John Clarke (RIP). May he rest in peace.
