I spent some time in All Hallows with John, and then began to work with him as he began fundraising for All Hallows we used to met quite often in Washington DC. I feel sad that Mayo never won an All Ireland in over 60 years, it was John’s one great disappointment, he was an avid fan. May he rest in Peace.

We were profoundly sorry on learning of the death of Msgr John. What can one say about Msgr John, only that his generosity exceeded what words can express, in other words, his generosity new no bounds. What he did for his local Church in Crossboyne, where Msgr was ordained, was just wonderful beyond words. The time back in the late 1980’s, when the parish ran the limited draw, where there was one hundred thousand collected, for the church, which was under the direction at that time, of the late Fr Canavan, Rip furthermore when the church was badly in need of repair. Fr John did so much at that time for that major fundraiser, always giving most generosity to Card games Sales of work, just to mention a few, church gate collections, doing likewise, always putting his wallet into 5th gear, the parish was indebted to father John at that time, in later years giving that parcel of land to the church, along with his brothers and his nephew Darragh Delaney. It was so good to Converse with Fr John, he had a sense of humour like no other, moreover, Fr John was blessed with an unrivaled wit.
We send our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Fr John’s nephews and nieces, and to all of the extended Delaney family on the death of their great and wonderful Uncle.
