ice or snow never fazed him. He always had a smile & sometimes news but never gossip. He was a true gentleman. He will be sadly

We were so saddened to hear of Mikey’s passing. We had the pleasure of meeting Mikey in Ballina Hospital and grew very fond of him. We always looked forward to our little chats with him and Tom each day.

Mike was the first cousin to my Mother, and my Grandfathers (Frank O’Dowd) nephew. I remember visiting Mike & Tom several times over the years, coming from the USA. On the most recent occasion, Mike told me stories of my late grandfather that I had never heard before. He was overqualified in his wits, and exceptionally versatile in his quips. He is fondly remembered, and will be for decades to come by my family and I.
Rest in Peace Mike, with sincere Love and Gratitude. And God Bless Mike’s younger brother, Tom.

I have fond memories of Mikey from his days as our postman, arriving on his Honda 50 and delivering all our parcels to the family home. He was a true gentleman, always so kind and friendly.

Farewell to a legend,
Mikey was a gentleman, he never had a negative word to say about anybody. He was our postman for over 40 years and covered many miles through hail rain and snow on his Honda 50, Mikie never complained. Always in good humour, he would have the few sweets in his pocket for little people, and when handing you the fone bill would say “talk is cheap til you go on the fone”!!
He was our Internet and Facebook, our Pharmacy and grocery delivery man and was always discreet.
He was our wonderful neighbour and friend and we will miss him more than words can say.

So saddened to hear of Mikey’s passing. He was a true gentleman who always had time for a chat. Condolences to Tom and the family. Such a familiar sight in the mornings in Lahardane doing the rounds on his Honda 50. God rest his soul.

Very sad to hear of Mikey’s passing, he was honest, decent, witty, a gentleman who did the post for 30yrs and attached to our post office I can easily say he never did a wrong deed, or said a wrong word to anybody in his whole life. May Mikey get the happiness he deserves in Heaven. My deepest sympathy to Tom they were very close to each other. I’m sorry for missing his funeral I am out of the country, but I am very happy I visited the two of you very recently. Rip Mikey.

Mike was a postman in Lahardane for 4o years and he delivered the mail with delight at Xmas with cards and parcels coming from USA and England, his Hoda 50 would be well loaded for that week. The next big occasions were Valentine’s Day, Easter and delivering the Headage Cheques in the back end of the year. After all those years he was a phycologist and a great story teller of times past May he rest in peace

So saddened to hear the news about Mikey Dowd. Memories of Mikey and his Honda 50 always come to mind when I think of Home. He was one of lifes great gentlemen and will be truly missed by all who ever knew him. My sincerest sympathies go out to Tom and all his neighbours and friends. May Mikeys soul Rest in Peace.
