Michael worked with us at The Foxford Crafts Fair outside broadcast for many years from 1994. In those early years he had to go to Braidgh mountain (where the cross overlooks Foxford) to bounce the signal back to Ballyhaunis. No problem was too big solve, for him. He was a very popular broadcaster and technician, we always enjoyed working with him. Our condolances to his family, work colleagues and friends.

We are very sorry to hear that Michael has passed away. I met Michael a number of times and was interviewed by him, when he broadcast from the Mid West Roadcaster at Swinford Agricultural Show. Those interviews can be nervous enough occasions when you don’t do them every day, but such was Michael’s personality he put you immediately at ease. A consummate professional, a broadcasting pioneer and trailblazer he is a great loss personally and professionally. All of us at the Coleman household, were so incredibly saddened on learning of the death of Michael Neary.
Michael Neary was such a beautiful person, he was a first-class gentleman to his fingertips. Michael brought warmth comfort and light to so many of us, through his great work especially in the farming community. Michael was a wonderful broadcaster, where he presented the farming program each and every week on Mid West Radio. Michael was a mind of information. The advice he gave was so informative, he was as good, if not better than any professional farm advisor – a true voice for the farmer.
Michael’s Saturday morning show was always fantastic. His beautiful sweet musical voice, and his choice of wonderful music was only just heaven to listen to. Michael Neary was so special and unique, he won’t be forgotten.

I was so saddened to hear of Michael’s passing, Pauline. Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you, your children, and his Mum.

My thoughts are also with the extended Neary and Hickey families, as well as his colleagues at Midwest Radio and his many friends, especially Gerry Glennon. Michael will be truly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He brought warmth and kindness to those around him, and so many will remember with fondness the comfort and joy of listening to him on the air before he became unwell.

He was a genuinely lovely young man, and I hope it brings you some small measure of comfort to know that he is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.

I was doing machine work next to his home and he would come to me after he came home from school and I would put him into the cab sitting behind me. We maintained our great friendship all the years since. Many times Michael came to me in the Press Box in Hyde Park when he was covering the games live for MidWest Radio. He was a real gentleman and was so helpful to everyone there. Time spent with Michael was always a pleasure and he will be very sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Rest In Peace Michael.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Michael, I did a few O.B.s with him in the Crossmolina area , Church masses on a few Sundays, also the Enniscoe old tractor and vintage shows, Michael would often ring looking for something, be it equipment or a sim card , and was always grateful, and would return the gesture, a very helpful human being, and to his wife,Pauline, and his Children, his sister Mary, and the extended family, and his second family, Midwest Radio colleagues, I offer my deepest sympathy, I hope he is at rest with all his family members who have gone before him, he was a talented man with nothing but GOOD in him.
