He was a great community man and always so giving and generous with his time, volunteering especially with directing traffic at funerals and community events. He was ever ready for a chat leaning on the pillar at the gate with a smile, thumbs up and a wave. He enjoyed his football and I’ve some great memories of us heading to support Mayo on Christy’s bus. Michael James will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his kind and gentle Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.

Many a laugh I shared with Michael James, he was a character, a wonderful kind neighbour who wouldn’t pass you by without stopping for a chat. A good-natured man and great friend to my Dad, the salt of the earth, always helping out in the village either directing traffic, digging graves or giving tourists directions! Such a huge loss.
