Sad to hear of the passing of Mattie. I first got to know him and Mary at the country music daces around the region in former times. Big Tom was always his special favourite all down the years. The last time I met him him was outside Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney in May 2023 ahead of the Mayo v Kerry championship on a day when Mayo inflicted the first defeat of Kerry by any team in Fitzgerald Stadium in 28 years years. Mattie was a happy man after the game. He was a gentleman and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Condolences to Mary and their family, John and Mary, daughter-in-law Laura, son-in-law Vincent, relatives, neighbours and friends at this sad time.

I’m so so sorry to hear of this sad news , Mattie Hunt ..what a Gentleman ,a great friend and such a neat tidy worker ,could turn his hand to anything ! I feel so honoured and lucky to have had him work for us last year at the house ! Down through the decades whatever job needed doing there was only one two word solution “Phone Mattie”!!! My grandparents had such good time for Mattie , many a job he done for us here in the house and barns .but you wouldn’t get him on a Mayo match day !!!
