It was with deep sorrow and sadness when we heard of the passing of one of our greatest COVIES Coinin. Memories came flooding back of times past and fishing expeditions out on Clew Bay. It was out there he was most at home with his fellow anglers. His wit and one liners his turn of phrase was something to behold no doubt he was a born entertainer.
He will be dearly missed but has left a great legacy of memory’s .

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a true friend and one of our own.

I’ve known Coinin for many years, and over the years and worked along side him in the Asgard and the west. We shared many a laugh. He became part of the fabric of our bar and our lives. Every day he’d be out the back enjoying his couple of Guinness, always with a smile and a story to share.

One thing we’ll all miss is hearing him call every one of the girls on the bar staff “girlfriend.” It was his way, and it always brought a smile to our faces. It just won’t be the same without hearing those words again.

He was a familiar face, a gentleman, and a friend to so many. His seat out the back will never quite feel the same.

Rest in peace, my friend. You’ll be sorely missed by all of us here in An file bar and your memory will always have a place in our bar and in our hearts.

A truer gentleman there never was. From all the way back to the town hall disco to the blue waters of Clew Bay, Coinín was the one friend that would always bring fun, laughs, and general devilment to any situation. He had great time for all that were privileged enough to know him, and whenever you heard the immortal line, “how keepin’ Cove” you just knew that your day was going to be a good one. He took everyone at face value, didn’t mince his words, and would simply bring you up when you were feeling down. One memory that will stay with me until we meet in heaven is the shore competition on Inishgort every June. We laughed from start to finish, and kept it going in the Asgard and Quays afterwards. Some people are put on this earth to to remind us to simply have fun, to love family and friends, and to enjoy life all of the time. Coinín was that guy.
