Feenone, Carrowniskey, Louisburgh, Co. Mayo. February 15th 2026 : Peacefully in his 99th year, surrounded by his loving family and in the exceptional, wonderful care of the nurse and staff at Cuan Chaitriona Nursing Home.
Son of the late Kate & Michael.
Predeceased by his infant son Seamus, siblings Mary Renwick, Nora Staunton, Theresa Foley, Paddy Needham, Eugene Needham, Austin Needham, Michael-Joe Needham, son-in-law Christy Gallagher & daughter-in-law Madeline Lavelle.
Loving husband of Eileen (née Mc Nally) loving father to Michael-Joe (Ann), Mary O’Donnell (Peter), Kathleen Sweeney (Tom), Thomas (Cheryl), Sean, Paraic (Laurel), Peggy Gallagher, Eugene (Margaret), Eileen Keogh (Alan), and Beatrice Prendergast (John).
Sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife, sons, daughters, sisters Kathleen Needham, & Beatrice Mullen, his thirty one grand children, twenty nine great grand children, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended Needham & McNally families, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

John will rest in repose at Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Louisburgh on Tuesday (February 17th) from 5:00pm, concluding with Vigil Prayers at 8:00pm.
Funeral will arrive at 11:30am to the Church of the Holy Family, Killeen on Wednesday (February 18th) for 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in lieu if desired to Louisburgh Meals on Wheels c/o Sweeney Funeral Directors, Louisburgh.
