John was a wonderful Club & Community activist. He was a fundraiser extraordinaire, a developer, a Manager. Selector, Team transporter, Player & a tireless volunteer. He understood the importance of Community & the contribution of Club to the Parishes it serves. He was a County Club Delegate and was well versed in the GAA Rules & Guidelines and shared his knowledge of same at every meeting. His great commitment & dedication to Club continued up to recent time as ardent supporter and analyst to all Teams both for Training & Fixtures. Thank you from us all John for your immense contribution to the Club. Your legacy will be there for future years and a great foundation for current & future generations to continue to develop & enhance. Your presence & support will be missed from the Club you nurtured & loved. Enjoy your eternal rest.

John was a great stalwart for years for the Michael Glavey Gaa Club and also gave many years to Kiltullagh Community Games. John was very much like the late Fr Horan when he got something in his head, money was not to be an obstacle and he was the driving force behind the Complex in the early 80’s. Both John and the late Fr Flannery gave many a lift to the players from Mountdelvin to Crennane Bridge and travelled the county with several teams. May John be rewarded in heaven for his work on this earth.Rest in peace.

John was a great staltwart for the Michael Glavey GAA Club for many years and was the driving force behind erecting the Complex. In ways he was like Fr Horan, if John got something in his head, money was not the obstacle as he believed it would turn up and he did not rest until the job was done. John and the late Fr Michael Flannery were the taxis for all the footballers from Mountdelvin to Crennane Bridge and travelled the county with the teams. Pauline and family ye will miss him so much.. John was a family man and a great man for the community in Ballinlough. Personal memories for Tom. His association in early years in Glaveys club, actually involved in plays that they actualy staged in Gortaganny hall.
My mum had great regard for John’s parents.
As a child i was fascinated watching the big wheel turn at our town hall in Ballinlough. Toney and Willie Scahill from Castlerea were great buddies and worked together in the stall to raise funds for the church. One says the apple does not fall far from the tree. His mum mary was a great business woman and a lady. Recently i met his sister Anne in Ave Maria. nursing home. A nice story after we got married we went to live in Bangor Erris with Tom’s mum. She had a little altar in the kitchen. I used to admire a tiny sacred heart statue and our lady in.
The mum said when Tom was a chid he broke the old one. One fair day at Toney’s stall he bought the two little statues. Padraig Campbell who came from Ballycroy and lived on Ballinlough was with Toney and John Regan who helped. Bangor Erris in those earlier years , it was a long way from Ballinlough..
God rest their hard working souls now John has joined his parents in the peace of heaven. I have not visited ave Maria due to being sick. Sadly Tom and myself will not be able to attend the funeral.
Pauline and family you will miss him so much. He loved you so much and his children and siblings. God rest his gentle soul in his eternal home in heaven.
