I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Joe Nestor. To me, Joe was always a constant and reassuring presence in our home community. A kind and genuine man always so generous with his talents, knowledge and time. I remember Joe being so welcoming to me when I returned to teach in the parish as a very young and inexperienced teacher. Thank you Joe.
Joe and Rita were like two peas in a pod and I can only imagine the huge void his passing will leave in your family, home village and wider community. He gave so much to young and old all around him and he will be fondly remembered with great love and respect.
To Rita, Sinéad, Niamh, Ioseph, Gráinne, Michael, Killian and all his grandchildren and extended family I offer my heartfelt sympathies on the loss of Joe.

He was the driving force behind the Ballyglass Sports for decades, which was the biggest event of its kind in Mayo for many years.
Joe also was the main organiser of the National Schools Open Sports’ in those days.
Joe was always diligent, energetic and well respected in all of his roles.

I would like to offer my Deepest Sympathy to Rita and all the Nestor family and extended families on the passing of Joe when I had my back accident 20 Years ago i had to go Castlebar hospital And then To Dublin hospital for a big operation on my spine Joe always rang home to see how I was getting on after my accident and operation in Dublin he rang every week to see how I was recovering and also called down to the house serval times to ask how I was recovering from it I will never forget Joe for his kindness and support he gave me .May his Gentle Soul Rest in peace

A proud family man whose love of Ballyglass was tangible.
He set up the Community council and opened the community centre in the old school. He led and assisted in the refurbishment, often taking the painting brushes in hand. No job was too big for him.
he attended most of our meetings until recently. He liaised with Fás committees and ensured that community enhancement was progressed.
His local knowledge and interest in the history of the locality was unmatched.
We will miss his jovial spirit and

My sincere condolences to Joe’s wife Rita and his family, Joe was a lovely man, highly intelligent and he passed on his knowledge and wisdom to all the children including myself who had the privilege of being in his class at Mount pleasant national school . He treated everyone equally and was always a kind and helpful neighbour. His mother was a cousin of my father’s and dad always had great time for Joe Nestor. Joe often helped us making up the Hay in Burren field near his house all those years ago.. Both himself and Rita have been wonderful neighbours to us and always enquired after my mother throughout her long illness.
I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Joe’s passing . He will have a special place in heaven with all the angels and saints. May his gentle soul rest in peace, amen
