We are all very shocked and saddened here at Woodlands Drive at the sudden passing of Jim our neighbour. We will miss his cheery smile and his witty remarks. We will miss him rushing past our house, always in a hurry , half walking, half running. Jim Hogan was a legend in Westport and far beyond. If someone asked for directions to our house we always told them, just opposite Jim Hogans, and the answer.always came back. Sure I know it well

We’re very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing.Our sincere condolences to his good wife Rita to his daughters Sharon,Gemma and son James also to the extended Hogan family.Jim was a fine hurler in his youth and wore his heart on his sleeve.He could talk all day of the small ball game and Tipperary but it was with his parish club Temple Derry that his heart lay.The recent hit song “Killeagh”reminds me of Jim’s passion for hurling and his home club.In latter years he played with the local club Westport as did his son James another fine hurler.In recent years his company sponsored the Mayo senior county hurling championship in his endeavour to promote the game in the county.Jim will always be remembered by those who knew him as a sound man.Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
