Heartfelt sympathy to Claire, Kathleen, Ellen and extended families on the very sad passing of Jack. I have great memories of the late Mickey Walsh from Charlestown and myself staying in Jacks house in Cootehill while on route to Handball Championship games throughout Ireland. Such a gentleman who will be greatly missed. Thanks Jack for all the help, support and advice over the years, especially regarding Handball.

Jack will be remembered for many things, including his big contribution to education and the promotion of handball, but deserves special praise for his book Swinford Spalpeens: Aspects of Migration and Emigration from the East Mayo Area 1815-1970 (2017).
