As a child who grew up around Gus I am so grateful to be able to say how kind, gentle and patient he was as a man towards me and other young kids like me who knew him. I was also so curious to see him at the end of the day, he always had a way of making the simplest things seem interesting.

He had the best tyre swing on the Westport road and the best lorry too. I have cherished the memories of those times often and I wish to thank Gus and his family for them. May he rest in peace.

Dearest Rose, Carl, Carmel, Leona, Regina Denise John and extended family, I am ever so sorry to hear of the sad passing of Gus.
We shared many a happy day with him, particularly recalling the excitement of him arriving home in his lorry and him letting us tip it up,
They were happy days.
Gus was one of the kindest men I have ever known and I am ever so greatful to have such wonderful memories of him.
