I knew him as a grear banjo player who played along with fiddle player Mickey Finn at The Small Crane Bar in Galway during the early 1980’s. I remember them both playing a lovely version of reel for me called The Sally Gardens. Sadly ,both have now gone to there eternal reward in heaven. May their gentle souls rest in peace.

Gerry was a gentle, kind and poetic man. His music and his son Mikey were his life. They are joined now in the next life and all sadness is ended. He’ll be very missed in Santa Fe by the many who loved he and his music. Rest in peace Gerry.

So sad to hear about Gerry’s passing and my sincere condolences to John, Paul and Mary. Spoke to Gerry after Christmas and sounded in great form -back playing one night a week in a Santa Fe hotel. What a shock to hear the sad news. Gerry comes from a great array of Castlebar string musicians including Brendan O Regan, Frank Kilkelly and Brendan Fahy….top class players.
Rest in peace my friend and look forward to meeting you again on the other side. So many great memories of Gerry, a complete gentleman
