Fr. Joseph Rabbitt

St. Patrick’s Missionary Society, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow and formerly of Castlerea and the Dioceses of Calabar and Port Harcourt, (Nigeria) August 17th 2026 – peacefully in Tallaght Hospital, supported by his family.

Predeceased by his sisters, Eileen and Teresa, and his brother, Kieran.

Deeply regretted by his sisters, Mary (USA) & Gerardine, his brother, Padraig, his sisters-in-law, Valerie and Pamela, his brothers-in-law, Denis and Bert, his nieces and nephews, his Society family, and his very wide circle of family and friends.

Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Chapel, Kiltegan, on Thursday, August 20th at 12noon followed by burial in the Society Cemetery.

Sincere sympathy to the Rabbitt family on the death of Fr. Joe. Fr Joe was ordained on the same day as my brother Fr Sean O Dowd and I met him when visiting Kilteegan . A lovely man who did great work during his missionary life.

Sincere sympathy to Fr. Joe’s family. I often met him while playing Bridge, he was an astute Bridge player.
He was in the Choir when my cousin, Fr. Pádraig Gallagher’s funeral Mass was in Kiltegan.
