She and John brought me on my first “wild Atlantic way” some 23 yrs ago before there was a name on that route. Now I bring all my foreign visitors on that same route. She was like an elder sister although being a colleague. I cherish my fond memories.

I am heartbroken with the news that my great friend Fidelis has left this world, and it’s hard to imagine a place without her in it.

Fidelis wasn’t just loved, she was cherished.

There was something about her that just drew people to her so naturally.
She made ordinary moments feel so special.

When I think of Fidelis I think of La Zenia,Spain.
She adored the place. Everyone knew Fidelis,and she never met strangers,only friends she had not yet spoken to.

The night in John and Brides, the big bash in Eddie and Annette’s, the party at Marie’s poolside Villa,(nobody fell into the pool)and many more.
Fidelis was the Queen of all those great nights.

The Mayo group she got together in Spain. We had great days and nights.

Her loyalty knew no bounds. Remember the time she flew from Spain to vote for her friend Michael Loftus in the local election,and flew back to Spain the next day.

She really was a Legend.
Although my heart is broken, I am privileged beyond words to have known her and call her my special friend.

I know for sure that John will be waiting anxiously at the Pearly Gates for his beloved Fidelis to arrive, and Tommy Grier will be ready to voice one his great Yodeling songs.
