I was truly saddened to hear of the passing of Brother Sebastian. I was principal of St. Nicholas Special School in Ballina and Brother Sebastian was on the board of management during my time. I always knew I could turn to him for straightforward good advice and he was always ready and willing to help. He had a big and warm presence that filled the room. He was a great man and is a great loss. My condolences to all his family, colleagues and friends.

My sincere sympathy to Brother Sebastians family and the Marist brothers on the death of brother Sebastian. I was privileged to work with Brother Sebastian when I came to Ballina in 1992. A true gentleman who always gave you good advice. As principal of Scoil Padraig brother Sebastian was an inspiration his pupils came first and he always wanted the best for them. He was always so hospital and kind to me and I enjoyed saying Mass in the Marist house in Convent hill where we had some wonderful evenings. He had the ability to connect with everyone in the parish young. A wonderful supporter of the Ballina Stephenites he was so proud to see so many of his past students win the All Ireland club title in 2004. All of his spare time was given to the GAA and he was so well taught off and respected in Croke Park. A big hearted man in every way he will be so sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of us. Sebastian May your kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

It’s with great Sadness and true sense of Loss that we hear of Brother Sebastian sad passing. Truly knowledgeable, pleasant, and witty person to be around and deeply missed when he left Ballina & Ballina Stephenites. He had his seat in the corner. Enjoyed the banter. Very well thought of and very well respected in every way. As a Ref accessor the question was put to him in the club, “would certain Ref {who had his hopes set high} make it to Croke Park” ? His answer – “Probably, but it be selling Bananas, Apples & Oranges”. Needless to say it wasn’t the answer the up & coming Ref expected.
May we extend our sincere Condolences to the Davis Family, The Marist community and all Brothers close friends .
May Brother Sebastian Soul Rest In Peace.

Deepest sympathy to Brother Sebastian’s family on his sad passing. It was through football at Ballina Stephenites that I got to know Brother Sebastian. His knowledge of football on the pitch & administration in the clubhouse was immense. All his spare time was given to the GAA, without looking for anything in return. A kind & caring person, that will be always fondly remembered in Ballina. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Br Sebastian’s family and his Marist Brothers confreres on his sad death. We are all very sad to hear of the death of Br Sebastian -or Sabs as he was affectionately known in our house. He first became a legend back in 1968 as a Selector on the defeated All Ireland Sligo Minor team and attended every one of their jubilees since -their Golden in 2018. But it was later as Principal of our son’s school, Scoil Padraig in Ballina, that we got to know him best as an inspirational leader, mentor and educationalist of deep faith, a passionate GAA man and a loyal Stephenite supporter and mentor. A true and loyal friend to the end, his name will be forever spoken with reverence in our family -Ní beidh a léithead ann arís. Sleep soundly dear Sabs. RIP.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bro. Sebastian. As a colleague and principal in Scoil Padraig he was at all times kind, courteous and helpful. His most endearing trait was his supportiveness even to the point of encouraging me when I informed him of my decision to apply for the principalship of a school nearer home and leave Ballina. His sense of humour and hearty laugh are abiding memories as are his knowledge and love of the GAA. To his relatives, confreres and close friends we offer our deepest sympathies. May Sebastian rest in peace.

It is with a profound sense of loss and sadness that we learn of the death of Br. Sebastian our great friend and colleague for many years in Ballina . Brother Sebastian assumed the principalship in Scoil Phádraig in 1986 and endeared himself to staff, pupils , parents and all with whom he came into contact in the community .
