I met her in Castlebar at the Woman’s Heart concert and we had a lovely chat and a cuppa. This message comes from across the Irish sea where Dolores was equally respected and revered. I feel privileged to have lived through an era where Irish music and song featured so prominently in our lives. Dolores had a distinctive voice that resounded with deep passion all enhanced by her natural Galway tones. Many a night I danced to Caledonia or raised a glass to Galway Bay over here in England. Dolores connected us with home – the real Ireland of our childhood. She is irreplaceable and managed to achieve stardom whilst remaining humble.
As I say goodbye to her I pay my respects to all her family members and a special word to Sean Keane (her brother) – another favourite singer of mine.
