Heartfelt sympathies to Della’s family, extended family, and many friends on her passing. May you all find strength and comfort in your treasured memories. Her passing brings to mind Della’s heroic intervention in 1983; Our mother, Teresa Conway had a stroke and collapsed – she managed to crawl to phone and tugged the handset cord. The handset fell to the floor which at that time activated a call to the exchange. Della was on duty & immediately perceived that Teresa was in trouble. Della comforted her and raised the alarm. Della’s concieancious intervention saved Teresa’s life and enabled her to live a full life until 2006. Words can’t express our family’s gratitude and indebtedness to Della. May her kind, gentle and loving soul rest peacefully.

My mother Liz Dunne and Della worked together in Telecom Eireann in Letterkenny back in the 70s and remained friends ever since. Della was always so generous and kind to me when my children were born, always sending toys and gifts to them. Della sent my children their very first Mayo jersey which I have kept. I was lucky enough to meet Della on a few occasions, she was always so positive and had good words to say about everyone.. She always spoke so lovingly about her son OJ, his wife and was so proud of her fabulous grandchildren and loved visiting them in Meath. I am so sad to hear of her passing.
