Another dark cloud has fallen over our community, as we come to terms with the heartbreaking and tragic loss of Brendan.

Brendan was hugely popular, widely respected, and held in the very highest esteem by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. It is impossible to begin to imagine the grief and trauma his family are now enduring.

Brendan was an exceptional vet and a genuinely wonderful person, a gentle giant in every sense of the word. He was admired not only for his professionalism and skill, but also for his kindness and compassion. My father, who is a farmer, always spoke so highly of him. On one occasion, a valuable animal had been misdiagnosed by another vet. Concerned, my father contacted Brendan. Brendan carried out an operation on the farm which, my father said, could not have been performed to a higher standard even in a hospital setting. Thanks to Brendan’s skill and dedication, the animal made a full recovery.

That story always stayed with us and speaks volumes about the professionalism, care and compassion Brendan brought to his work every single day. He will be greatly missed by so many people whose lives he touched.

Brendan was held with high esteem in our house an absolute gentleman , professional, positive, reassuring simply an excellent vet who loved animals, he would put you at ease when coming up to the cattle test, he knew how important the animals was to people. It is very hard to comprehenfd that Brendan’ has passed. He was such a jovial character who would put anyone in to better form.
