Annie Regan nee Phillips

To my mom, Ann, thank you for naming me after the strongest woman you know. I take such pride in carrying Nan’s name with me always, and am so grateful she was alive and able to see me complete my PhD and dedicate my thesis to her in our shared name. All of us in the family have been blessed to inherit our wits from Nanny Annie. Nan was as sharp as a whip, always known for a game of 25’s, a crossword in Ireland’s Own, and watching The Chase. She was a great woman for keeping up her cúpla focail and sharing it with all of us through rhymes and sayings she could still recall from her own school days. She will be greatly missed but her influence on all of us will live on. To my aunties Bernie and Pauline, and all the family, my love and thoughts have been with you all this week, I’m sorry I couldn’t be there to grieve and celebrate Nan’s wonderful life with you all.
